«. LADY M'KENZIE. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, June 4. Lady M'Kenzie, the widow of the late Sir John M'Kenzie, died early this morning, at the. age of eighty-three. [Krosi Our Correspondknt.] Lady M'Kenzie was for many years the right hand of the late Sir John M'Kenzie, of stalwart memory, his able adviser at all times, and sharer in his joys and sorrows when ho was a shepherd on the slopes of Pnketapu to the day when he received the insignia of St Michael and St George at the hands of the present Prince of Wales. Lady M'Kenzio was an TJrquhart, a typical Highlandwonian, and a fluent Gaelic scholar. She was hospitable to a degree and carried with her through life, the friends of her early and struggling days. She took the keenest interest in politics and she was a shrewd critic and judge of tactics. Sir Joseph Ward, seen by a "Star" representative this afternoon on his way north 3 said. "1 heard the sad news of the death of Lady M'Kenzie from her family this morning with the deepest regret. She was one of nature's noblewomen, the sweetness and simplicity of whose life endeared her to all who had. the privilege of knowing her."
