TPbr Prsss Association.] WELLINGTON, April 30. The marine engineers to-day entertained Colonel Denny, of Dumbarton, and presented him with 1 a badge of membership. Among the speakers were the Hon J. A. Millar, the Hon G. Fowlds and Mr W. F. Massey. In an interview to-day prior to his departure for Gisborne, Mr Massey emphasised that his mission south was not to arrange for a. coalition between the Opposition and the Government for the' purpose of curtailing the Socialistic tendencies of the Radicals. Those who were alarmed at the spread of Socialism should assist the party that "had stood up with a certain amount of success against the Socialistic proposals in Parliament. He believed that Socialism would occupy a prominent place in the next elections. A decision of general importance was given by Chief-Justice Palmer to-day in i the Native Land Court. In effect he held that a European child adopted by an aborigine Native cannot participate in any estate left by the Native at death. ______
