The disaster to tho pearling fleet it more serious than was anticipated. Thaj storm vas sudden and very severe, and! it also did considerable damage ashore*! The full extent of the disaster is not yet known, but the latest news is to the effect that two schooners and fifteen luggers were either smashed up or sunk^ Two -white men, named M*Lachl»n andl Gaskin, and about fifty coloured menf were drowned. The damage is eeti-< mated at £1000. Altogether 200 boats, with crews aggregating 2000, are af-< fected, and many are still missing, buti they may have sheltered on the coast.; Arrangements have'been made to search for survivors.
