CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, April 29. (Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) Drunkenness. — Two first offenders, one an old age pensioner, for drunkenness, were each fined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. — Henry Frederick Neville,' a statutory second, offender, was fined 10s and costs- in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment, for having been drunk. Erring Cyclists. — William Fine, a youth, was fined 5s without costs, for having ridden a bicycle on the footpath. — William Blight, who made a lengthy and subtle excuse in extenuation of a similar offence, was convicted and discharged on account of .his being a new arrival from England. — Albert M'Clatchie and Robert Annand, for similar offences, were each fined 10s and costs. — For having ridden a bicycle at night without a light attached, Ernest Bascand was fined 20s and costs. Perambulating Eqtjines. — William Evans, Alfred George. Unwin, Grainger Clark, William Burns, Charles Hewitt and William Bryen were each fined os and costs, for having allowed horses to wander along public roads. — On a similar charge, William Thomas was fined 10s and costs, it being his third offence. — Leonard Campbell was fined 10s and costs for allowing two horses to wander, and George Bl.azy 15s and costs for allowing three horses to wander. Grazing Cows.— John Henry Malley was fined 10s and costs for having grazed cows on a public road. Dismissed. — Ernest Alexander (Mr Donnelly) pleaded not guilty in answer to a charge of having allowed fourteen cows to graze on Hill's Road, Marshland, and, after hearing the evidence, Mr Day dismissed the charge. Leaving the Box Seat. — For having left a cab unattended in a public place, James Vining wm> fined 5s and costs. He pleaded that he had gone into the Dominion Hotel to obtain his fare.
