In the presence of the coroner and a number of experts tests were made of the Bcndigo train under conditions similar to those existing at the time of the Braybrook accident. The second engine in use at the time of the collision was employed. The carriages were loaded with sandbags of the approximate weight of the passengers. All the suspended enginemen, excepting Milburn, wore aboard. The trials proved that the brakes were efficient for stopping the train. The claims for injuries have increased to 378. The Cabinet has decided to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the accident. Mr Justice Cussen will be president.
