Linwood made the game fast from the start, and for the greater part of the time kept Union on the defensive. In the first spell the Christchurch team scored a try (Reid) and a penalty goal (Wilson). In the second it demoralised Union and scored two tries (Hale and Reid). The Merivale-Alhambra g«me was a great go.
