[Fkom Oxtb Correspondent.] DUNEDJN, April 18. Linwood. created a surprise, playing on the Caledonian ground, by defeating TTnion by twelve points to nothing. Linwood made the game fast from the start, and for the greater part of the time kept Union on the defensive. In the first spell the Christchurch team scored a try (Reid) and a penalty goal (Wilson). In the second it demoralised Union and scored two tries (Hale and Reid). The Merivale-Alhambra g«me was a great go. With ten mimites to go, Alhambra were leading by five to three, and the score was unaltered when the whistle blew.

The Football Referees' Association has adopted the laws governing the same outlined by the Australian oonierence, and has resolved that referees absent from home, acting Under Union matches, shall receive ten shillinojs per day. The next conference will be held at New Plymouth. WELLINGTON, April 18. The New Zealand Union has declined to accede to the request of the North Otago Union for a match against the British team.
