THE WAIRUNA-MOONAH COLLISION.
MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY. [Per Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, April 16
At the Wairuna inquiry Captain Robinson, of the Wairuna, stated that he did not ask any of the officers to write out a statement of the occurrence Captain Atwood, AssistantMarine Superintendent, stated that the Moonah was a strongly-built ketch. He had passed the lights, and from their position in the rigging he thought it was absolutely . impossible that damage could have been sustained by the ketch drifting up with the tide acrqgs the Wairuna' s bows. David Gouk, shipbuilder, said the gash extended 22ft from the port side to within five feet of the starboard. It was impossible that it could have been made by the vessels drifting together. The Wairuna appeared to have climbed right over the ketch.
