POLLARD'S JUVENILE OPERA COMPANY.

At the Theatre Royal on Saturday night Pollard's Juvenile Opera Company will produce for the first time in Christchurch the brilliant musical comedy, " The Isle of Bong-Bong." The plot of "The Isle of Bong-Bong" is as follows: —The English owner of an estate on Mindora, one of the Philippine Islands, has died leaving his property to a distant relative, Lord Percy Fitzmaurice, thus disappointing his native wife, Dolores, who expected to be his sole heir. When Lord Percy arrives incognito he learns that Dolores is plotting to put him out of the way. Lord Percy also falls in lore with Marjorie Grey, an American girl who does not believe in titles. In order to escape Dolores and win Marjorie, Lord Percy changes place with his servant, Gordon St Bernard. While masquerading ak the lord, Gordon naturally gets into all the difficulties which had been prepared for his master. In addition to his adventures with Dolores, he is induced by G. Raffcre Saunders, an American politician, to run for the office of Government Game Commissioner on the island. He is elected without knowing what the duties of the office are. It develops that the Government Game Commissioner is the official tiger-hunter of the island, and that in accordance with an ancient custom he is expected to exterminate the tigerg^of the island in a gladiatorial hand-to-liand combat. In his fight Gordon is worsted, and would have met his death if the real Lord Percy had not rushed to his assistance. This heroic act discloses the identity of the actual owner of the estate, and winds up all the difficulties. The box plan for the season is now open at the Dresden and day sales at the i; West End," Cathedral Square. An interesting collection of photographs in connection with Mr Pollard's stage ventures will be on view to-night in the windows of Messrs Strange and Co.'s premises and Sarony's studio.
