DRAINAGE BOARD.

The ChristchuTch Drainage Board mot la6t evening; present — Messrs H. J. Otley (chairman), S. A. Staples, W. E. Samuels, V. Storey, W. J. Walter, B. J. H. Carow and J. Down. Tho treasurer's report showed that £7400 13s 2d had been received since the previous meeting and that the expenditure had been £1094 7e lOd on the rate account, £2 17s lid on No. 1 loan account mid £1265 17b Id on tho No. 8 loan account. Accounts amounting to £1094 7s lOd on the rat© account and to £1265 17s Id on the No. & loan account were passed for payment. The secretary reported that the Avon and Spreydon Road Boards had not complied with tho Board v s request to furnish a monthly statement of accounts as required by the Drainage Boards Act, 1907. The Avon Board had forwarded a cheque for £100 and now owed about £800. The Spreydon Board had sent £75, but neither had sent statements. Mr Samuels said that the matter should be placed in the hands of the Board's solicitors to take proceedings. On Mr Staples's motion it was resolved—that the attention of contributing bodies should be drawn to the necessity of furnishing monthly statements. Tho engineer 1 s report, which was adopted, Stated that the cost of the sewage farm for the year ended March 31 had been £50 9s 4d, as against £351 0s 8d in the previous year. Tho pipe on the school road was fit for the Board to take over. "It had been arranged to have the ■'deepening of ,the Canal Reserve drain extended as far as Mr John GearechowEki's property, at a cost of 80s por chain. A case of alleged carelessness on the part of a licensed pipelayer at the Technical College was referred to th« Works Committee. It was decided that the dram in Tennyson Street should be covered and the cost charged to the Sydenham portion of the special loan. Mr J. A. Biltcliff. engineer at the pumping station, who had resigned, was granted three months' leave of absence on full pay.
