The telegraphists in India, who heretofore had a three-hours' interval for sleep during the night watch, were ordered to do eight hours' continuous duty, day or night. They object, and have asked for an increase of 25 per cent in their pay. The Viceroy supports Mr Newlands (the British Post Office expert who was sent to India) in enforcing the new 'regulations.
