POLLARD'S JUVENILE OPERA COMPANY.

At the hew Theatre Royal, on Saturday next, Pollard's Juvenile Opera Company will produce for the first time in Christchurcn a new musical comedy, entitled "The Isle of Bong Bong." A northern journal, in noticing the first production, said : — " The mounting of the comedy is the best yet shown by the company, the painting of the first scene is a vivid piece of scenic art, the effect of distance being adi mirably suggested," while the Indian encampment scene is worth going a long distance to see. The boat with its human occupants sailing upon the water, and the flickering distant lights, are skilfully managed with glowingly realistic effect. The book and lyrics are for the most part efficient and adarilrable; they reflect credit on Messrs Hough and Adams who composed them, ' The Man in the Moon ' song (with chorus), sung by Bert Nicholson, is a very quaint conception, delicately rendered by the singer enshrined in moonlight. • The daintily tuneful ' Illinois 6ung By Miss Minnie Topping was deservedly encored." The " Isle of Bong Bong" will be produced for a few nights only, and will.be succeeded by other Pollard successes. The box plan will open this morning at the Dresden at nine o'clock.
