A London man walked from the Marble Arch to the Martyr's Memorial, Oxford, 54J miles, in 8 hours and 51 minutes, beating the record by one hour and eight minutes. In the erection of the new Victoria and Albert Museum at South Kensington (England), 12,000,000 bricks and 280,000 cubic feet of stone, weighing 16,000 tons, have been used. The building will cost over £1,000,000.
