BILLIARDS.
The Alcook billiard tournament, promoted by the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club, was commenced this week in the club's -ooms. Tbe tournament, which will be playd under handicap conditions, 300 up, is one ->l the largest of its kind ever held in New Zealand. The prizes amount to £100, and L he nominations, totalling 95, include most of he leading players in Christohurch. The following are the results of the games played, lhe handicaps being- given in parentheses: — J. Hamilton (8) 300 beat E. Power (60) 192; L. Partridge "(50) 300 beat W. H. Stags (10O) 246; A. Cameron (70) 300 beat J. H. Tompkins (130) 276; G. Wilkinson (120) 300 beat "Eanji" (120) 222; H. Byrne (scr) 300 beat W. J. Hopkins (170) 214. "The largest breaks were: Byrne 59 and Hamilton 53.
