THE SUPERANNUATION FUND
[Per Pbess Association.] WELLINGTON, March 24. When the Superannuation Act was passed all the temporary clerks in the Civil Service were placed on a permanent footing and became subject to the law, which required them either to join the superannuation fund or insure their lives, as provided by the Act of 1893. The latter rule does not appear to have been generally known, and a. circular was issued this month drawing attention to it, and insisting on the lair being followed. As this involves deductions from salary, the circular^has come as an unpleasant surprise to the newly-promoted temporary hands. Lightning kills, on an average, twenty-three people in England, nine-ty-two in France, and 165 in Germany every year.
