The Federal Government is consid* ering a scheme for utilising the proposed Mint for silver and bronze for th. complete manufacture of cartridges. The working of the Mint would not' fully, occupy the hands, and as the brass cup? from which cartridge cases are drawn have to be imported, it is proposed tor add the manufacture, of thjese cups to^ the work of the staff of the Mint. Thei profits on the coinage of silver and; bronze is estimated at £50,000 per annum. This would more than coyer the cost of producing * 20,000,000 cups! and 20,000,000 cupro-nickel bullet envelopes. .
