Lieutenant- Herd, of Wellington, has been elected as judge of the- North Island Brass Band Contest, to hv. held at New Plymouth in February, 190 S. TIMARU, December 24. Scott Bros., Christchurch, have just completed an electric light installation here, and tho town was lit for the first time last night by the new illuminant, which is exceedingly, satisfactory.
