GOVERNMENT OFFICES.
* A SECTION ACQUIRED IN CHRIST- ., CHURCH. Sir Joseph Ward informed a " Lyttelton Times " reporter yesterday that the Government had definitely selected <a section of land on which to erect a new Customs House and Public Works offices i« Christehureh. Th© section is that occupied by the old tramway sheds behind the Anglican Cathedral, with frontages on Cathedral Square and Worcester Street, and extending east to the lane. Unless negotiations with the owners are successful, the'land will be acquired under the Public Works Act, and the price to be paid will be settled by arbitration. The work of erection will he proceeded with at an early date.
