THE NIMROD.
Mr C. A. 0. Hardy, M.P., has presented the Expedition with a Vanguard chemical fire extinguisher for use on the Nimrod. Lieutenant Shackle-ton will deliver an illustrated lecture in the Canterbury Hall this evening. He will deal with Antarctic matters, and the lecture should prove most interest-ins; to Christchurch people. Admission will be free. I The occupants of the foVele of the I Nimrod were entertained by the mem- j bers of the Richmond Working Men's Club at the club last evening. A very pleasant evening was spent with, music, song and story. Dr Marshall and Lieutenant Adams are engaged at the Magnetic Observatory to-day standardising the instruments to be used on the expedition. Messrs Day, Priestly and Marston. 'will leave for Mount Cook to-day on a short trip. The dogs to be used by the expedition are expected to arrive from the south by the first express to-day. They have been on Stewart Island, and are at present in charge of Joyce, one of the "handy men." who had experience with the Discovery Expedition.
