Auckland at the hands of Mr Hamilton's company. 'In descriptions. of the play it has been stated that the author has invented his\story with an atmosphere- as fresh* as the country, in which' many of the incidents take place. - Mr Lindo has told a simple story with charming brightness. The scope of th« drama ( is considerable, and though the motif is romantic, there is; room for a display of filial devotion ~as well ias of a lover's passion. The story knowa nothjng of bloodshed and /murder, "ad often met with in modern melodramas,' and the drama has been eulogised forits pure and elevating teachings.
