A MISSING MOTOR LAUNCH.
ANXIETY AS TO HER FATE. [Pek Press Association.] NELSON, December 2, The chief postmaster has received the appended telegram from the postmaster at Takaka, who is in telephonic communication with the lighthouse at Farewell Soit : — " A motor yacht left Co'llingwood for Farewell Snit lighthouse at 5 a.m. yesterday, with eighteen passengers and crew on board, including Mr Bean, postmaster at Collingwood, his son and a cadet named Robins. These three intended to land at the lighthouse and the rest to go fishing. They went aground at the lighthouse (this part of the telegram is not clear) at 11 p.m. The keeper went aboard her. She was at anchor at eight this morning, but at 9 a.m. the Farewell) Spit lighthouse-keeper looked for her and could not ccc any sign of her whereabouts. It was blowing a heavy gale trom the northward at the Spit." Orders have been sent to the Takaka postmaster to take charge at Collingwood, and if there are? no fuither developments by to-night Mr Senn, chief postmaster, and two officials will go there. The motor launch, it is surmised, has been either swamped or driven out to sea. It is hoped that she may be sheltering somewhere, but grave anxiety is felt for her fate.
