United Press As-ociation-By Electrio Telegraph— Copyright. (Received November 23, 10.16 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 23. Mr Clarke, father of the New South Wales House, has died at the age of eighty-five. He represented Eden for thirty-three years.
" THE' FATHER OF THE SCOTS," [Per Pkess Association.] WHANGEREI, November 23. . Simon Fraser, known throughout th« north as " the father of the Scots, died last night, aged eighty-five. He came to the colony from Aesynt, Sutherlandshire, sixty years ago. He was first on the Ballarat goldfields. and afterwards opened up the goldfields in Otago. He several times petitioned for compensation on the latter account.
