■-- ■ » CHRISTCHURCH CLITB. The final round of thirty-six holes of tho competition for the championship' of the Chris tchurch Golf Club resulted in an easy victory for B. C. Rutherford, who beat M. L. Cotton by 14 up and 18 to pi ay 5 Rutherford's play, si though very good, scarcely entitled him to such a lead ; but Cotton's approaching and put-ling' were far below his usual: standard, and time after timo he los-l the hole when a half was within ea?y reach. For the first nine holes Rutherford's 6core was 40, and for the last nine 35, which includes a 6 ai Muggeridge's. The competition for the Wardrop deck, which was postponed last week, will be played on Saturday, September 7. Dr Jennings has offered a prize confined to iho " juniors," to bo won by tho best round, of medal' play. \ The prize will be played for on August 31 There will be a. modal handicap' match, ai Shirley on Saturday. The New Zealand Championship Meeting 1 will beg-in on the Waiohiki Links, near Xapier, on September 10. Entries will cloea at Napier on September 2. The Manawatu Golf Cub have issued an | attractive programme for a tournament to be held at Palmerston Nbrth in the week proceeding 1 the championship meeting. Enta-ies will close on Axig-ust 31.
