CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, August 15. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. — Seven first offenders were each fined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. .. Alleged. Ouscene Language. — Alexander Thompson, who was also fined 10s and costs, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment for drunkenness, denied having used obscene language in a public place. A daughter of the accused gave evidence for the prosecution, but the Magistrate dismissed the charge. Remanded. — Charles Armstrong pleaded guilty to having used obscene language in Lichfield Street. He was. however, remanded to August. 21, on the application of th 6 police, who stated that other charges against the accused were pending. . IN_KCE_.r. — John Black was .sentenced to three months'* imprisonment on a charge of having been guilty of indecent exposure in a public place.
