A LI.GAL CLEANSING METHOD. This morning Charles David Scott, a disreputable-looking individual, appeared on renin ml, befoie Mr H. W. __i.shop. S.M., on a charge ol vagrancy. Scott is tho recipient of the old ago pension, and tli. Magistrate explained that a conviction on tho charge could not be entered. The purposo of tho accused's arrest was principally to compel him to wash. Some months ago Scott confessed to not having washed for something like ten yours, and on that occasion tho \ -lice were given a week in which to cleanse hi in. During his recent stay in gaol Scott was again _ washed, and this morning the following dialogue took place between him and the Magistrate : — Magistrate: Have you had a wash? Scott: A bath. . , Magistrate: Did you like it? \ Scott (shaking his head vigorously): ! No. t | Magistrate : You ought to havo a hath every day. I cannot convict him of vagrancy, but it would be advisable to kc.p^ on bringing these charges against him and we can wash him.
