LATE MISS KATE BALDWIN.
THE FUNERAL. The funeral of the late Mies Kate Baldwin, one of the foremost teachers of the North Canterbury district, took place this morning at the Sydenham Cemetery. The funeral cortege, which left the residence of the lady's fathey. was a long one, and there were in it the representatives of the Education Board, the New Zealand Educational Institute, and many of the schools of the district. The Education Board's office was closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., asa mark cf respect, and the school children of the Eafit Christ church School, where Miss Baldwin had acted as headmistress until compelled to relinquish that post on leave of absence, were dismissed for the half-day, and at many of the schools the flags were flown at half-mast.
