NOTES.
The model workers' dwellings, erected in the Exhibition grounds, will be open for inspection on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 2 to 5 p.m. A contribution box for the Veterans' Home has been placed out&dde tlie post office in the main corridor. The box is Handsomely finished in figured woods, and alongside it is an illuminated sign, setting forth the objects of the Home.
The Victorian Court is to bo supplemented shortly by a large consignment of exhibits from private manufacturers. The success of the Exhibition has stimulated attention in Australia very materially, and /'it is likely that quite a number of tiro courts will be substantially augmented as a result.
A deputation from the representatives of several Australian States is to wait upon the Minister in charge of the Exhibition, asking that the duty upon wines imported for the Exhibition to be dispensed in hospitality under the immediate responsibility of the accredited representatives of the States shall be removed. At present the wines are admitted as exhibits and the duty will bo rebated on all that is taken away tor .return at the close of the Exhibition, but the representatives of the States are not allowed to dispense it except on the payment of duty. This restriction do-es not apply to the tiny sample bottles, which are admitted free. It is contended that the dispensing of hospitality is advertising the wines of the colonies, which are manufactured from the purest ingredients, and that duty should not be charged whore they are controlled- by responsible State representatives. The wet weather entrance to the Exhibition at the tram terminus was opened to-day for general • traffic. The opening of the entrance has given general satisfaction to the public.
