Colonel Pitt passed a fairly comfortable night, an<f his condition to-day is regarded as being ae (satisfactory as can be expected. Mr yV. Rose, collector of Customs at Hokitika. who has been promoted to the Wellington office, was presented yesterday with a silver service by the business people of Hokitika. He also received a presentation from the various societies he is connected with.
Mr Walter l J avitt, Auckland manager for the Royal Insurance Company, is at present in Christchurch.
Dr Fell arrived from Wellington by the 5.6. Rotomahana this morning.
Dr Gibb arrived from Dunedin by the s.s. Monowai thie morning. The following passengers have been booked for "Wellington by the s.s.
