CELEBRATIONS ELSEWHERE.

[Per Pbbss Association.} NELSON, October 21. Trafalgar Day was celebrated here to-day with great enthusiasm. The weather was dull, succeeding a heavy rain and storm, and one or two showers fell, but not enough to mar the proceedings. The Governor arrived by the Tutanekai. after a somewhat 6tormy passage, and was received at the port by the Mayor and Council, Volunteers and the citizens. The ohildren, friendly societies and other bodies marched in procession to the town, and the procession was large and imposing. The buildings were decorated with flags and streamers stretched across the streets, and were very effective. Illuminations, with a torchlight" procession, etc., will be held to-night. The usual local addresses were presented to the Governor on reaching the town, and there was a great gathering at the Cathedral steps. The afternoon was devoted to a military review on Trafalgar Park, patriotic addresses, the lowering of the flag to half-mast at noon, and military sports. In the evening there will be a torchlight procession, th© Fire Brigade's demonstrations, and the town illuminations. Although bad weather militated against the complete success of the functions, all were fairly satisfactory. DUNEDIN, October 20. The Navy League's celebration of Trafalgar centenary took place in the evening, when the Garrison Hall was crowded, the Mayor presiding. Patriotic addresses were delivered, 6ongs were sung, and the prizes won in con- i nection with the League's naval his- | tory examinations at the public schools were presented. The whole function was successful, and there was much enthusiasm.
