Saturday, June 24. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) A Charge of Vagrancy. — Charlotte Morrigan was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, without lawful means of support. She pleaded not guilty, and was remanded till Friday. Bail was allowed, herself in £100 and two sureties of £50 each.

Theft. — William. Burridge, on remand, camo up for sentence on a charge that on June 10 he did steal from the shop of Annie Heyder a handbag valued at ss, a cheque for £2, and money amounting to £10 14s 6d. He was convicted and placed on probation for three months. •

Arson. — James Amos and Get j,a Moir Crockett appeared, on remand, on a charge of arson. They were remandnd till Wednesday. R. A. Bradbury, on a similar charge, was remanded to the same day.

Alleged Theft. — Edward Eyreton Sunderland was charged that, on December 18, 1904, he did steal one double blanket, valued at 10s, the property of Ellen Cockayne. He was further charged that during the last six months he did steal a quantity of linen and underclothing, valued at £17 4s 9d, the property of the Christchurch Steam Laundry Company, Mr Harper appeared for accused, who pleaded not guilty. On the application of ChiefDetective Chrystal the case was remanded till Wednesday, bail being allowed, accused in £100 and two sureties of £50 each.
