MARCHING HOMEWARD.

(Written for the " Blue Jumpers' " SocialEmpire Bay, 1905.) To-night we think of early days -when ev'ry pulse beat strong, And the Future lay before tta full of promise and of hope, „ And glad and lightsome-hearted we gany marched- along, With ev'ry adverse fate prepared m confidence to cope. Since then in Life's campaigning we have* often met defeat, And we sometimes with regret look back to those bright days of yore; But such regrets are idle— 'tis tho Future we should meet ... „ With the faith that in the future there are better days in store. Marching homeward, marching v homeward, after Life's inceseanit fight, Ev*iy moment brings us nearer to the Everlasting Rest, To Peace that is unbroken, to the great unshadowed Light, To bliss so gTeat it cannot be by human tongue exprest. We all are marching homeward ■through the long campaign of Life; ■ Marching homeward, marching homeward — We wait the bugle-call; Marching . homeward, marching homeward, to rest from toil and strife, The summons to headquarters is coming to us all. • . WM. J. STEWARD.
