INDIGNATION AT THE PORT. The decision of the Christohurch Hospital Board to close the Lyttelton Casual Ward has aroused strong feeling in Lyttelton, where there is *ome talk of holding an indignation meeting. It is considered that, though the ward may not often be required, cases occasionally occur in which it is absolutely necessary, and the Board s y action is regarded as economy at the expense of human suffering. .One individual voiced the popular feehng in the remark that if the Hospital Board had control of the depots for the relief of shipwrecked mariners at the Auckland Islands it would close them because they' were not remunerative investments, yy ' „
