CITY EDITION, FUBLISHED AT 4 P.M. PATIENT MEDICINES.

' * REVOLT OF PROPRIETORS. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. (Received May 6, 8.55 a.m.) LONDON, May 5. The "patent medicine proprietors refuse to', deposit their formula, with the* JNew Zealand officials, and are ceaeing 'their exports to that colony, in which j they will withdraw all advertisements.

[Fbom Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, May 6. Sir Joseph Ward, interviewed regarding the patent medicine cable message, said that, so far, he had received no communication on the subject, but he understood that, generally speaking, the presen^ arrangemerit was satisfactory to tj_e great bulk of proprietors. The people had alright to be protected from anything in the shape or deleterious patent medicine, and it was just a question which was the best way to do this. " The proprietors of recognised patent medicines," he- said, " should have nothing to rear, as far as I can judge, by the course now proposed 'of the formula being lodged confidentially with the Minister or Health, and. as they know it does not go on record in the Department in any way whajtever there must be some misconception on the part of the proprietors who are agitating against the regulation. However, I will be very glad to look into the whole matter again."
