The following is the fin-al selection of the team to represent, tho North I-dand against tlie Soi^th Isiland under Iviigby rules, at Dunedin next Saturday:,— Pull-back, Tata>ran*gi (Wanganui) ; three-quarters, Bishop , (Hawke's Bay), Fume (Manawatu), D. j M'Gregor (Wellington) ; five-edgihths, Huni tc-r and Mynott (TaxanaJci) ; half, Itoberts (Wellington) ; forwards, Murray and Montgomerio (Wanganui), Seeling (Auckland), Cross ( Wellington), Nicholson (Auckland), Glenn (Taranaki), Watkins (Wellington) . wing-forward, Guy (Tarataki). j [From Ora Coiuu-spondext.] I The North Island team will leave for the south, by tho Eotomahana, to-morrow night, and will arrivo in Dunedin by • Thursday's express. Although some difficulty has been ! experienced in getting tho team together, . owing to some of those originally chosen being unable -to obtain the necessary leave,, the selectors havo, notwithstanding, man- j aged to secure a strong combination, which j • will give the southerners a hard fight to re- ; peat the successes of the past two years.. In the northern team are the following) five players ,who represented- New Zealand against "the British team:— D. M'Gregor (three-quarters), and Seeling, Nicholson, Cross and'Glenn (forwards), while Hunter, who was first emergency in the New Zealand team, is playing five-eights, in com- ! pany with his provincial comrade, Mvnott. Furrle, the Manawatq three-quarter, .is tho player wha j assisted so materially in bringing about • the defeat of the New Zealand team prior ! to its departure for Australia last year. Bishop, the other three-quarter, is Hawke's^ Bay's best three-quarter-back and is spoken of as a young player only requiring an opportunity such as he ismow given to prove his right for future consideration at the hands 6f the New Zealand, selectors. Roberts, t.he scrum hal^ is the Wellington provincial player in that position. The front-rankers, Murray and Montgpmerie, are the Wanganui hookers now touring ths South Island. Guy, the Taranaki wingforward, and Watkins (Wellington) are well-known representative players for their respective provinces, while Takarangi is the Wanganui full-back. Considerable in- j terest is being taken in tbe North Island ' in the match, as it is anticipated that the North Island team has a good ohance of winning. Learmont and Corbett, the West Coast representatives in^the South Island team, left Greymouth for Christchurch yesterday morning. The manager of the team will confer with the Otago Union in appointing a referee for the match.
