The King— Harman estates hi Sligo and Roscommon have been sold to tenants for half a million sterling on a 24£ years' purchase, or, with a bonus, 27£ years. (The King-Harman estates cover a very large area of mountain and lake country in the counties of Sligo and Roscommon and close to the county of i-citrim. The property was held originally by the Royal Irish family of M'Dermott, but was confiscated by Parliament in tho time of Cromwell," and included in the Irish lands given to English soldiers as compensation for their services. Two officers who gained possession of the estates did not realise their value, and sold them "for a song" to a yoimg man named. King-Harman who founded 'the family which has been for so many years in possession of the estates. Of lato years the estates^ havo been the subject of much litigation" owirig to the marriage of tho last surviving member of tho family against her father's will.)
