«, WOOLSTON. Tie Woolston Boroti^h Council met on Thursday; present — the Mayor (Mr J. Richardson) and Councillors Thomas, Moore, Spreadfoury, Ohaimp, Henley, Hayes, Woodhouse and Beaumont. The Workß Committee's report recommended that a lamp should,. be erected at the corner of Mnrcroft and Randolph Streeta, and that eight lampposts should bo purchased. The -working plan of the road formation and channelling, as submitted by Mr Schauman, through his engineers, Messrs Mlntyore r.nd Lewis, should be approved. The work would b 8 under the supervision of a clerk of works appointed by the Council at the expense of the , owner, conditionally uporf a road connection being provided to give an outlet on to Parkes Street. The Council would not be responsible for compensation for the widening of Aldwin's Road. A sample of metal submitted by Mr Garland should ba approved. The report was adopted. The Finance Committee's report showed, that th© receipts since the, previous meeting had amounted to £934 6,s Bd, including a; temporary loan of £800. The deb-it balamce «t th© bank, including temporary loans, was £1329 2s Bd. The .payment of Accounts amounting to £78 18s lid was recommended. The report was adopted. The Mayor stated that the Chief Postmaster had yi«ted the borough to report on a suitable site for a post office. The Mayor's .action in connection with the* Heathoote Bridge was approved. • A sum of £12 10s, . the balance of the Council's guarantee towards tto maintenance of the Christohurch Associated Technical Classes, was passed. Mr Wild'a application for the approval of a plan of sub-division of his property was declined. The clerk was authorised to obtain a tally of traffic over t!he Heathcote Bridge.
