'"' In committee on the Arbitration* Bill Mr Watson moved a sew clause prohibiting either party employing counsel. This was strongly opposed, and Mr Watson ultimately accepted &a amendment that th* leave of the Judge may be obtained! to employ counsel. This was ; carried. Mr Wat. son introduced clauses applying the mea« sure to oversea shipping, so thafc foreign vessels should be made to comply with the same conditions as are imposed von local shipping. Mr Deakin said be t>tiought>the clauses out of place; their province being in? a Shipping Bill* He did Hot believe aa award against; foreign ships whose agreements with their crews -were made ..at a foreign port could be enforced.
