"*"■ ■ . The following letter published yesterday from Mr R. Breen, secretory to the OtagjoTramways, explains it«df: — "One would infer from the : remarks made by the President of the Arbitration, Court that I had purposely waited until the Auckland tramr way case had closed before sending a wire refuting the Mayor of Dunedin's statement, and that that wad the crime I had been found guilty of, and liable to be punished for.' Whether that was iihe reason of the President commenting «o> strongly on my .action vor not, lam not yet in a position) to say, but I desire to make it clear to the tmblic that I was pat aware that thefcas© had closed when the meesagei w«b s^it. My attention was, only drawn to the' matter on Friday afternoon, but before taking action it was necessary for me to consult the president of the Union, which I did at nine o'clock on Friday mghi, and the wine was despatched on Saturday morning. That wae the only reason for the delay."
