THE AUCKLAND FIRE.
A PECULIAR INCSTO^NT. ; [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 6. The fire at Morrin'» warehouse was responsible for the death of a male patient afc the Auckland Hospital,, owned GK i>yer, a mi^dle-ag-ed man, in a rather peculiar manner. Dyer was Bleeping out on the 'hoapitsri verandah and the glare of the conflagration awoke him. He sat up suddenly in bed, which' had the effect of bringing on hemorrhage of- the lungs, end he died in three minutes after the occurrence. [From Our Qdbbssfonpbnt.] . - EWNEDIN, May 6. Messrs Morrin's business at Auckland is practically a Dunedin concern. The business f^U into the hands of the Bank of New Zealand 1 Estates Company twelve or fourteen years ego, and Mr Robert Fen-wick, ' of the Dunedin branch of Messrs Briscoe and Co., was selected to take charge^ and, if possible, bring it ont of its difficulties. Mr Fenwick succeeded remarkably well with the task entrusted him, and eventually T in conjunction ■with, some prominent Uurisdin citasens and one or two English capitalists, raisedl the necessary capital to purchase the business. Under Mr Fenwick> control as managing direoior, the company had been built up into one of the largest hardware businesses in the colony.
