OBITUARY.
v [Peb Pbess Assooatcon.) DUNEDIN, May 4. Mr Bawson, engineer to the Dunedin Harbour Boaxd, died at six o'clock this morning, from peritonitis. (Fhom: Ova Cokbs-Fokssnt.] Very general regret is felt tlirou^out the community at the death of Mr Bawson, and reference was made to the fact by more than one public body to-day. Deceased waa appointed by the Otago Harbour Board seven years ago, having previously been engaged at Greymouth and Westport. He attended the Board's meeting on Thursday last, when his salary was raised from £800 to £1000 per annum, and next day be was taken ill. Death resulted from (peritonitis sape.veaiing on appendicitie. 1 Mr T. Lewis, formerly st_tionma__ter at Hyde, but who retired lately from the railway service on a pension, died yesterday i ab Naseby. j
