RADIUM.
Radium is a- dangerous element to meddle with. When Professor Becquerel came over to London to lecture on tlfe new discovery, he popped a tube of radium into his waistcoat pocket, and thought no more of it. By-and-bye, he felt an intense pain about i his ribs. Examination of the affected area showed that th© seemingly innoewns tube was simply burning a, hole into him. M. Curie had a. similar experience. When he was in England demonstrating before various learned bodks, he had not realised the inflammable properties of his treasure, but, after many experiments unguardedly conducted, found himself seared and" scorched as by hot irons. Radium is just one of the things to make cowards of all who steal and carry it away-
