DUNEDIN NOTES.
[Pitoji Ottb Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, Api.il 27. The poll for the Mayoralty to-day is expected to be heavy, in consequence of the electors 'being also asked to decide whether the electric trams should be taken through the Botanical Gardens, which is a burning question. Mr Braithwaite will probably be elected Mayor for the ensping year, though 'both candidates profess to be sanguine as to the result. In order to check tuberculosis, the City Council proposes to rigidly enforce the bylaw dealing with expectorating on the footpaths. It is iprobaWe that the Mornington trams will be driven by power supplied from the Waipori Falls Electric Company, and that the private and public lighting of the borough will be supplied by the company. The Roslyn Tramway Companv is said to 'have accepted an offer by the Waipori Company for the tramway, and the St Kilda Council has almost settled for street lighting.
