♦ CHRISTCHUECH. Thtosday, Apbil 7. (Before Mr G. Tombs, J.P., and Mr J. Hamilton, J.P.) Deunkbnness.— -Three first offenders were fined each 5s and costs on charges of drunkenness.— Jane Sable was fined 5s and costs, and James Bell 10a and costs on similar charges. 111-treating a House.— -Walter Chapman, for whom Mr Watson appeared, pleaded guilty to a charge of having cruelly ill-treated a horse on April 6. Aacused oafled J.\ R. Charlton, who stated that he had examined the horse. It was certainly unfit for work, the shoulders being very much chafed. It was a delicate-skinned horse and was suffering from a skin disease, and he thought that the wounds were quite recent. The Bench fined accused 303 and costs. Ajf&BGED BbEAXING AND EntEBING. -~ John D. Walker was charged with having broken and entered the premises of Robert Pitoadthly and stolen therefrom a quantity of tea, wine, kola, whisky and cigars, to the .total value of £14 3s 6d. He was remanded for a week on the application of the police, bail being allowed in bis own surety of £100 and xwo sureties of £50 each. (Before Mr W. H. Cooper, J.P., and Mr J. H. Stringer, J.P.) Crvn, Cases-— ln the following cases defendants, did not* appear, and judgment was'entered for the plaintiffs by default :~ Chriatopbet R. Wilson (Mr Harper) v. Thomas Bust, claim £19 ss; Albert Edgar Harcty (Mr Harvey) v. Leonard Hooker, ££ ; 'Hallecfitem Bros v. S. C. Malcolm, £1 18s 9d>. Several disputed cases were adjourned at the request of- parties in order that they might be brought before the Magistrate.
