THE ANTRACTIC EXPEDITION.
♦ THE VESSELS IN PORT. NOTES. j ■ The ships of the Antarctic expedition were, in a sense, abandoned vessels to-day. The members of their companies were absent on leave, and the ships were left in charge of caretakers. A detachment of bluejackets from H.M.B. Tauranga visited each during the morning to do the litfcle pumping usually required on wooden vessel* and to attend to whatever other small jobs might be required. A few visitors, some of them with" cameras, made their way to the vessels during the day. The Terra Nova went into dock at nine o'clock this morning. She was manned for the occasion by a crew of bluejackets from H.M S.' Tauranga, her own men being ab&ent on leave. A number pf Mr M. J- Miller's men began the work of cleaning her below the water line ac the dock 'was pumped out. Her fine lines were generally admired as they were disclosed by the falling of the water, and it was evident that she has come through her Antarctio experience practically unscathed. Dr Koettlitz explains that Mr Dell, who is in the Hospital,, is not suffering from blood poisoning, but only from the effects ;of it. , | : I
