THE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
» - THE VESSELS IN PORT.
NOTES. General leavip has been granted to the ships' companies of the three vessels — to the men of the Discovery till to-morrow week, and to those of the Morning and Terra Nova till Monday next. This morning, Mr A. Kaye, who was chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board when the Morning was last here, paid a visit to the vessels of the Expedition. A man named J. H. Maxwell, who joined the Morning as cook and steward, when she was last at Lyttelton, was signed off by mutual consent this morning. The Morning is to be docked as soon as possible after the Terra Nova has come out of dock, and the Discovery is to go into dock as soon as it has been vacated by the Morning. A number of the bluejackets of H.M.S. Tauranga will be employed in refitting the vessels. It is stated that Mr M. J. Miller, who did the shipwright's work on the Discovery and Morning, when they were previously docked here, will probably be engaged to do Similar work on all the vessels on this occasion 2 and that Messrs John Anderson and Sons will probably do some necessary work to the boilers of the Morning. A new boat is to be procured for that vessel; .
