"CORPSE"COMES TO LIFE.
SADDEN COLLAPSE OE AN INQUEST.
While a Houston (Texas) Justice of the Peace was holding an inquest over the body of a supposed murdered man in December, vitality suddenly returned, the corpse, opened his eyes and essayed- to sit up. Intense consternation ensued. The needs of the Coroner were at once dispensed of and physicians were hastily summoned. The body lay on a cooling board, had been pronounced dead and was ready to be embalmed. .The man is Japes Dixon. He was assailed while^ in the street early that morning and a bullet was fired- through his head at close range. Much brain matter is missing. His chances, for recovery are good. The physician who pronounced him dead startes the heart action was entirely suspended, and is much puzzled over the sudden return of animation.
