FORGED TELEGRAMS.
« \ A DUNEDIN CASE. [Per Press Association.] . DUNEpiN, January 29. At the Police Court this forenoon William R. Luby, .charged with sending forged telegram-***, pleaded guilty, and was fined £10 in each case. . The informations were laid under the Electric Lines Act. Accused became acquainted some time ago -with two young men named Killean ancl M'Cracken. He sent a telegram to Killean, asking hinto forward a* sum of money. The telegram was -signed "P. M'Cracken," and accused was successful in getting £2. It also camo to the knowledge of Li?by that Killean, while in Dunedin, stopped at Gebbie's Provincial Hotel.,shd that he left without paying his account. • Accused then -sent a wire to Killean, asking him to forward the amount, signing the name "W. Gebbie." Killean took no notice of the application/ but subsequently received another telegram, stating that unless the amount were paid forthwith proceedings would be .-taken.
