Lord Nortnco-e, replying to addresses of welcome from tlie public bodies, after referring to th-e warmth of the welcome he had reoeived' from the various States, delivered at message from the King to the people of Australia. His Majesty desired him to cay 'how vivid and lasting his recollection Continues of their splendid services to the rest of tho Empire in its hour of trial in tho late war,, and to convey his thanks for Australia's enthusiastic welcome to the Prinoe and Princess of Wales during their visit. Lord Northcot-e said th© King watched ..with deep interest and confident hope the development of the great national movement, and every constitutional process for linking together the Empire was enthusiastically regarded by the Sovereign.
