NORTHERN A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL SHOW. The morning broke anything but promising for the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual show at Rangiora to-day, the sky being overcast and a light rain falling. The rain cleared away £ however, and throughout the day the weather was cool and pleasant. No doubt the threatening appearance of the morning deterred many from coming in by the early trains ; nevertheless the attendance was large. The general arrangements for the show were, as usual, excellently carried out by the committee under the direction of Mr A. Home, the president, and Mr A. S. Olarksonj, secretary, and everything worked smoothly. The Rangiora Brass Band played a programme of popular airs, and a number of military events, jumping and riding competitions, provided amusement for the visitors during the afternoon. Mr H. G. P. Manaton had the publican's booth- and Mr A. Rattray the confectioner's and luncheon booths. The entries were not quite so numerous as last year, the falling off being chiefly in produce and poultry. The general quality of the exhibits was well up to the standard, the draught horses being, as usual, a strong section.
