CRICKET.
A meeting of the committee of the Midlard Crioket Club was held yesterday at the Clarendon Hotel, when a large amount of business was transacted. The- opening! of the season was fixed for Saturday^ September 26, when afternoon tea will be dispensed by the lady members of the club. The annual meeting of the Cricket Olnb connected with the r North Canterbury Cooperative Stores Company, Rangiora, was held on Friday evening. A .satisfactory credit balance was reported. The officers appointed were — Patron, Mr J. Canmichael ; president, Mr E. W. /Relph; v^ce-presi-dents, the directors of the company ; captain, Mr H. C. Wilson; vice-captain, Mr H. O. Amos; secretary, Mr B. Jordan; treasurer, Mr H. Carter; auditor, Mr A. S. . Clarkson. .General and Selection Committees were also elected. It was decided to endeavour to arrange matches with teams connected with companies amd firms.
