George _\lanole_ko, whom the police describe as the most dangerous criminal in the world, has just escaped irom the lunatic ward in the prison at Herzberg, near Berlin. During the night he called a warder named Gentsch to his cell, saying he was unwell and needed a dorter. Gentsch entered the cell to ascertain what was wrong, Majiolesko knocked him down, tied a handkerchief round his tliroait so tightly that he could hardly breatliet much less shout for help, and bound bin"' po that be was unable to move a limb.
